Worldwide Association of Notable Alumni Recognizes Dr. Hanna Rodriguez-Farrar

Dr. Hanna Rodriguez-Farrar is the Vice President for Public Affairs and University Relations at the Dominican University of California, one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in the state of California. With 20 years of experience in higher education and administration, she oversees the strategic planning process and integration of initiatives across the University. Dr. Rodriguez-Farrar leads and directs the communications effort to advance the University’s visibility, profile and progress on the local, national and international scale.  She also oversees the University’s marketing, public relations, government and community relations, and institutional research.

She created, developed and executed 2016 College Debate (CD16), a non-partisan social media initiative designed to engage college students in the 2016 election and Presidential and Vice Presidential Debates. CD16 reached 1.8 million social media users organically and had a media reach of 65 million people. She serves on President’s Cabinet, where she works with the President and other senior officers on institutional strategic planning, policy development, and decision-making. Her prior responsibilities included managing Student Life, Athletics, and Information Technology Services.

After earning an AB and an AM in History of Art and Architecture from Brown University, she went on to complete an EdM from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. She then earned a PhD in the History of Art and Architecture from Brown University and an EdD in Higher Education from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.

Dr. Rodriguez-Farrar serves as a National Board Member of Generation Citizen and Trustee Emerita of the Corporation of Brown University. Prior to joining the Dominican University of California, she spent 3 years as Assistant to the President at Brown University. She has been published by the Harvard Education Review, Political Science Now and Marin IJ.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Rodriguez-Farrar enjoys sports and is an avid reader. She resides in San Rafael, California.
