Marwan Abi-Chaker has worked at Middle East Capital Group (MECG S.A.L.) since April 2010 as a Relationship Manager (RM) and was quickly promoted to Head of Fixed Income Sales in 2013 and holds this position to date. He works with First National Bank Group’s private banking arm, and focuses mainly on providing investment advice, constructing portfolios and managing the day-to-day needs of HNW individuals, and manages a proprietary book. Prior to that, during 2009, he was based in Geneva, Switzerland and worked with Banque Suisse Italienne (BSI SA) servicing the HNW individuals of the Middle East region.

Since he joined MECG, he has been studying/attending at least one technical certification or a technical training yearly (of which in 2012: International Fixed Income and Derivatives (IFID); in 2013: Certified Treasury Professional (CTP®); in 2015: Fixed Income Portfolio Management). He is a CTP® and IFID Certified Financial Professional.

Marwan began his studies, in 1999, in computer science at the Lebanon American University (L.A.U.) but soon switched to finance, which he loves. He started his professional career by joining the leading audit/advisory firm, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC), in 2004 and worked there for three years in advisory and process improvements. After which, in 2007, he pursued his MBA degree at the John Molson School of Business, Concordia University, in Montreal.

Some of Marwan’s goals in the next few years are to grow with MECG and take on a high level managerial position. He knows that the key to his success was his hard work, and his proudest achievement was moving up the ranks of the company quickly and being rewarded by management with greater and greater trust and responsibility.

Marwan enjoys meeting new people, and believes that the contacts and relationships that he is able to build and maintain are the bread and butter of every successful person and business. Marwan looks forward to networking and exchanging with fellow members.

He enjoys sports, and played professional basketball in Lebanon, his team won twice the championship in the Under 18 League and Premiere League. He also loves nature, camping, hiking and reading. He keeps up with Bloomberg Reports, the Economist, WSJ and local papers. He resides in Beirut, Lebanon.
