Posted by Worldwide Association of Notable Alumni on August 1st, 2017.

Every once in a while, an educator comes along whose passion and creativity touches the lives of an entire community. Renee Ramdial is a revered educator with many years of service at the Trinidad Ministry of Education. Serving as Head of the Modern Studies/VAPA Department at Woodbrook Government Secondary School, she is responsible for the overall functioning and operation of the department. Her invaluable experience spans over 17 in the academic and educational sector. An impassioned educator and advocate for learning and the advancement of both students and staff, she diligently ensures the best opportunities and education for today’s youth, and the best resources and tools to help teachers set students up for success.

Tireless in her dedication to improving the educational outcomes and opportunities for students on a national level, Renee also serves as an Assistant Examiner for the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC), the official empowered to regulate and conduct examinations across 16 participating countries in the greater Caribbean Region. As a representative for her country, Renee demonstrates a model of ethics and integrity, ensuring the management and security of key examinations are enforced and handled with the utmost discretion.

Additionally, Renee oversees and manages fundraising and other special events within her district, and has been a particular influencer in her community with regard to Career Day. Driven to open her students’ minds to the range of possibilities that exist and to help each student experience the spark of inspiration, Renee ensures that the school enjoys a host of open houses and other events throughout the school year, giving students a safe space in which to be active and explore new ideas.

Passionate about teaching and helping others from an early age, Renee is herself a proud alumna of Woodbrook Government Secondary School, and stands as a role model in the community for how a strong education can open doors to a bright future. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education as well as a diploma in Educational Technology and History/Sociology from the University of the West Indies St. Augustine. In addition, she received a Master of Education in Education, Curriculum and Instruction from the University of New Brunswick. As Executive Alumni to her Alma Mater, she is the School Leisure Affairs Officer at Woodbrook Secondary School Alumni, ensuring that all alumni are kept “in the loop” about goings on for the alumni community.

Renee is a pillar of her community in St. James, Trinidad, where she has proven her dedication time and again to help her department and others pass on the resources and knowledge to achieve their own version of success.
