BIOGRAPHY
Marilyn Haft graduated from NYU Law School with her JD in 1968. Marilyn was a staff lawyer for the National Office of the ACLU from 1970 to 1975. There, she structured and litigated the first gay rights cases in the country, and did test case litigation in the area of prisoner rights. She was an adjunct professor of law at NYU Law School from 1970-1974. She then became a full time consultant for NBC News for program content. After, Marilyn moved to Washington D.C., where she was counsel to a congressional subcommittee investigating the intelligence agencies. She then became the Associate Director of the Office of Public Liason in the White House, during the Carter Administration where she was liaison for human rights, the arts and Native Americans. She then became the Deputy Counsel to Vice President Mondale in the White House where, amongst other things, was the White House liaison with the intelligence agencies for the rewriting of the charters , . Marilyn then returned to New York, where she ran the Presidential Primary campaign in New York City for the re-election of the President. She also was a Representative of the U.S. in the United Nations and in 1981 she became an Entertainment Lawyer and opened her own firm. Her entertainment practice focuses on film and television with an emphasis on finance. She is also a producer on a number of independent feature films and documentaries. She has taught as an adjunct professor at NYU Film School in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Marilyn actively participates in alumni events for NYU Law School and is an active member of the NYC Bar Association. Entertainment Law Committee, President of the Board of the Friends of World Federation of United Nations Associations. Marilyn has had a number of non-fiction books published on gay rights and prisoners rights as well as other subjects. books
