Mary Lou Cameron is a prestigious, multi-faceted educator with an illustrious career in education within her community and the tangents of the Texas and New Mexico. Her current role on the retirement board is to attend two meetings every month which include discussions on the ideologies of investment, finances, and professional branding of educators (in regards to the school districts in her community). As an associate superintendent at Deming Public Schools, she works closely with transportation, safety, nutrition, special education service, and parent support. Previously, Mary Lou was responsible for leading the effort to align the district’s learning systems at all levels - connecting those efforts with city, county, state and federal resources. She involved her educational services by participating in community activities, networking with the New Mexico public education department, attending legislative meetings, and continuing relationships with federal policy makers ensuring that DPS is at the forefront of decisions made impacting its work. When Mary Lou was a school principal she taught teachers in every class subject with professional development. She believes her greatest achievements and key to success come from the support of her past mentors. Mary Lou has transitioned the knowledge and skill obtained from her years in education to her students as well as her children. Mary Lou holds that all children should be given the opportunity to succeed personally and professionally. She is a constant advocate of continuing this trend of education worldwide and hopes that her constant willingness to learn and connect with other educators will put this movement into fruition.
