Dr. Nicholas Apergis is a Full Professor in the Department of Banking and Financial Management at the University of Piraeus. With over 30 years of experience in economics, finance and banking, his research is primarily focused on domestic and international financial markets. He is widely considered to be the number one research economist in Greece, and ranks in the top 5% across Europe. 

A prolific researcher and writer, Nicholas has penned more than 250 articles about economics and finance in journals such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, Kredit und Kapital, International Economic Journal, Atlantic Economic Journal, Weltwirtschaftliches Archiv, Journal of Economics and Finance, Manchester School of Economics, Journal of Economics and Business, Economics Letters, and more. He also serves as the Editor of the International Journal of Financial Studies, and a member of the Editorial Board for International Advances of Economic Research and Energy Economics among many more other journals.

Nicholas has also been a referee for numerous international journals, including the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, European Economic Review, Journal of Macroeconomics, Atlantic Economic Journal, and the International Economic Review. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Athens, and a Doctorate (PhD) in Economics from Fordham University in the United States.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Nicholas enjoys travel, reading and sports.
